Hey, I'm Alexandra.
Let's build a better web.

Web AI for Chrome

As the lead technical writer for AI on the Chrome DevRel team, I have launched two complementary sets of content and a strategy for sharing with web and browser developers about AI. Our audience strategy focuses on “Web AI” rather than AI generally. We aim to empower developers to integrate AI into their websites and web apps, understand AI-infused developer assistance, etc. We want to guide developers to select the right AI solutions for their platform, and inspire them with practical use cases. The narrative acknowledges that most web developers are still learning about the potential of AI and machine learning.

Long-term, we intend to offer detailed journeys for specific use cases. Web developers want starter code, strategic direction, advanced implementation, and the tools to build on top of what we offer. This requires us to listen to the ecosystem, continuing to reach out and seek specific advice as to what they want to do with our offerings / what we don’t yet offer.

I set up a cross-functional strategy team with technical writers from Android and Gemini to ensure we used the same language and created a cohesive learning pattern.

Overall, it's important that we:

  • Follow the unified Google directive on ethics and be the voice of that directive for web developers.
  • Establish a framework for responsible AI development and usage within the web ecosystem, to promote private and secure AI-powered web experiences.
  • Provide clear and compelling case studies, with a large library of samples for how web developers are using AI.

And in particular, for developer.chrome.com:

  • Clear guidance and best practices for implementing hybrid AI solutions, using browser technology, cloud AI, and bring-your-own models.
  • Generate guides for Gemini Nano built-in AI for Chrome.
  • Share Chrome's broader relevant-to-AI offerings, including content from WebGPU and WebAssembly.
