I spoke at KnowledgeConf 2019 in Moscow (English marketing site and actual Russian conference site). I was the only English presenter. My talk, “Creating compelling multimedia documentation,” covered the importance of considering the different methods of creating documentation, particularly video.

Abstract

There are many ways to help people learn and understand how to use new or complicated technologies. Visual learners succeed best with clear screenshots, GIFs, and video documentation. These tools can be a crucial part of your knowledge sharing process. I’ll share my experience using, producing, and managing video as a method of documentation for product overviews and tutorials.

While I did not specifically walk through how to make a video, I did cover when and when not to make video, considerations for script and storyboard creation, branding, and usability.
